The Job
A working ranch doesn't get to pause for a leaky roof. These two farm sheds earn their keep every day, and the roofs over them were past patching. We stripped both structures down to the deck, replaced every section of rotted plywood we uncovered, and built the new roof system up from solid wood.
The finish is GAF Timberline HDZ architectural shingles in Charcoal. Sharp new look against the ranch's siding, and a roof system built to shrug off the weather these open fields see year-round.
Why the Tear-Off Matters
You can't see rotted decking from the ground, and you can't fix it by laying new shingles over it. A full tear-off is the only way to actually inspect the wood underneath, and on this job it paid for itself. Several areas of plywood came up soft and crumbling, the kind of decay that would have kept spreading under a brand-new roof if it had been covered instead of cut out.
We replaced everything that needed it before a single new shingle went down. That is the difference between a roof that looks new and a roof that actually is new, all the way through.
The System
GAF Timberline HDZ is the workhorse architectural shingle for a reason: heavy-duty, wind-rated, and the Charcoal color holds its looks instead of fading flat. Underneath it, new underlayment over fresh decking, nailed to spec.
Out here, the roof is doing real work with no tree cover to soften the wind and sun. Building the whole system right, deck up, is what makes it last. More on our roofing services here if your own roof is due.

About Millstone Township
