The Job
Roosevelt sits under a lot of mature trees, and this house was carrying a full load of it. The gutters up top were packed edge to edge, holding standing water against the fascia, with more debris waiting to wash down into the downspouts and clog them next.
We cleared everything by hand and blower, then went back over the whole system with a hose, flushing each run and downspout until water moved through the way it's supposed to. No shortcuts, no leaving the last inch of sludge in the trough.
Why the Flush Matters
Scooping the leaves out is the easy half. What actually causes most overflows is the fine layer underneath, the wet grit and broken-down debris that sits in the bottom of the trough and creeps into the downspout elbows. If that stays behind, the gutter looks clean from the roof and still backs up in the next storm.
That's why every cleaning we do ends with a full water flush. It clears the fine material, proves the downspouts are open, and lets us catch anything else going on up there, like a loose spike or a low spot holding water, while we're already on the ladder.
