What the Homeowners Were Dealing With
The sunroom on this Millstone Township home had seen better days. The existing siding was dark, stained, and visibly deteriorating — years of moisture exposure, UV damage, and general weathering had taken their toll. In a few spots the siding had started separating from the structure entirely, exposing the sheathing underneath to the elements.
Beyond the cosmetic issues, there were functional concerns. The old siding wasn't doing its job protecting the insulation and framing from moisture intrusion. Left alone, the problem would only get worse — and what starts as a siding issue can quickly become a framing issue.
The Scope of Work
This wasn't a quick patch job. We stripped the old siding completely, exposing the underlying structure so we could assess the condition of the sheathing and insulation board. Once we confirmed the structure was sound, we installed fresh WeatherAll XL continuous insulation board across the entire surface — this adds both thermal performance and a smooth, flat plane for the new siding to sit against.
From there, we ran new J-channel trim around every window and door opening, ensuring clean transitions and proper water management at every junction. The J-channel work is one of those details that separates a professional install from a DIY job — get it wrong and you're funneling water behind the siding instead of shedding it away from the structure.
The final step was hanging the new white vinyl siding — horizontal lap style, running clean and level across the full sunroom elevation. The white vinyl brightened up the entire side of the house and tied the sunroom visually back into the main structure, which also has white siding.
Why Siding Replacement Isn't Just Cosmetic
Homeowners often think of siding as an appearance issue — and it is. But the real function of siding is protecting the structure behind it. When siding fails, moisture gets behind it. Moisture leads to rot. Rot compromises framing. What starts as a $3,000 siding job can become a $15,000 structural repair if you wait too long.
The insulation board we install underneath the siding adds another layer of protection. The WeatherAll XL product is a continuous rigid insulation that resists moisture while adding R-value to the wall assembly. It's the kind of detail that doesn't show in the finished photos but makes a real difference in how the wall performs over the next 20 years.
The homeowners are extremely happy with the transformation, and now they have the peace of mind that comes with durable protection and professional craftsmanship that will last for years to come.

About Millstone Township
Millstone Township sits in the western reaches of Monmouth County, where larger lots and mature tree coverage mean homes take more environmental punishment than suburban developments closer to the coast. The combination of shade, moisture, and seasonal temperature swings is particularly hard on siding — especially on additions like sunrooms and porches that may not have been sided to the same standard as the original structure.
We've done dozens of projects in Millstone Township — from full exterior facelifts to gutter installations, roof work, and now siding. It's one of our most active service areas, and the homeowners here appreciate contractors who show up, do the work right, and leave the property clean.
