Brick New Construction: Black 5-Inch Gutters and 2x3 Downspouts for a Sharp, Finished Look

Another new construction job completed in Brick, NJ! We finished this home off with 5-inch black gutters and 2x3 downspouts. The black gutters really complement the exterior and give the house a sharp, finished look while doing their job of keeping water away from the home. Looks great and works even better!

Key Takeaways
  • A new-construction home in Brick was finished with black 5-inch seamless gutters and 2x3 downspouts, formed on site.
  • Black ties into the dark windows, soffit, and fascia for a sharp, finished roofline.
  • 5-inch with 2x3s is the right size for this single-story roof, with downspouts placed to keep water away from the new foundation.

The Job

This is a brand-new home in Brick: fresh light siding, black windows, dark soffit and fascia, and a detached garage to match. Gutters were the last piece of the exterior, and the homeowner wanted them to finish the look instead of fighting it. Black was the obvious choice. It ties into the window frames and the trim and makes the whole roofline read as one clean, dark edge against the siding.

The crew formed the gutters seamless right at the truck, cut to the exact length of each run, and hung them across the main house, the back sections, and the garage. You can see the guys up on the garage roof in one of the photos below, working the eave while the rest of the house was already done.

Why 5-Inch With 2x3 Downspouts

Not every house needs the biggest gutter on the truck. This is a single-story home with modest roof planes, and 5-inch K-style with 2x3 downspouts is the honest size for it: plenty of capacity for a Jersey downpour on a roof this size, and a slimmer profile that suits the scale of the house. We sized it to the roof, not to the upsell. If you are curious how we make that call, we wrote it all out in our 5-inch vs 6-inch guide.

Downspout placement matters just as much as gutter size. Each one is set where it can drain its section of roof without overloading a corner, and on a new build that is especially important. Backfilled soil around a fresh foundation settles for the first few years, and water dumped right at the wall is how new homes end up with wet basements.

Looks Great and Works Even Better

The finished result speaks for itself: black gutters running the full roofline, downspouts tucked tight into the corners, and a house that looks complete. More importantly, every drop that hits that roof now has a planned path off the house and away from the foundation.

New construction is a big part of what we do, from a 5-inch install in Browns Mills to black 6-inch on a Morganville farmhouse. Builders and new homeowners in Ocean and Monmouth County, we are happy to quote yours.

About Working in Brick

Brick Township sits in the northeast corner of Ocean County, wrapped around the Metedeconk River and Barnegat Bay, and it is one of the busiest towns we work in. Older neighborhoods of ranches and capes sit right next to new construction going up on the lots in between, and a lot of those lots are shaded by tall pines that drop needles straight into the gutters.

Between the bay weather, the sandy soil, and the pines, getting roof water off the house and away from the foundation matters here.
